Jenni is a native Houstonian. She earned her Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and Philosophy and is pursuing her Master's degree in Education at the University of St. Thomas. Ms. Jenni has been teaching for 8 years, and enjoys working with students of all ages. She is passionate about reading, and as an avid reader, she loves sharing her passion for books with her students.
Andrew is native to Houston, graduated from Baylor University, and is currently finishing his Master's degree in Special Education at Houston Baptist University. Over the past three years, he has served elementary students in multiple capacities, an experience which has fortified his commitment to the education of young children. This is his first year at the NSH, and he is thrilled to begin what promises to be a very exciting and rewarding journey.
Juan was born in Ponce, Puerto Rico and moved to Houston in 2011 to pursue his goals in education. While in Puerto Rico, Mr. Juan earned his Certification as a Teacher's Assistant in Early Education and graduated Trinity College with academic honors. His creativity, dedication and natural development of relationships with students are only a few of the qualities that make Mr. Juan a gifted teacher.
Sara was born and raised in Houston, Texas. She completed her Master's in Elementary Education at the University of Houston. Her teaching career began as a teacher and substitute teacher in the Houston Independent School District. One of her favorite experiences, to date, was her two years spent doing community service, and primarily disaster relief work, with the AmeriCorps NCCC program in Louisiana, Mississipi, Illinois, and Texas. In her free time, Ms. Sara enjoys running 5K races, reading fiction, writing poetry, and watching old movies. She is looking forward to working with the students at The New School and making each day a valuable learning experience.
Aimee was born and raised in Clearwater, FL. She earned a Bachelor's degree from Stetson University in Psychology and looks forward to pursuing her graduate degree. After teaching in Metro Nashville Public Schools for 2 years, she relocated to Houston this year. Ms. Aimee was inspired to become a teacher by her 9th & 10th grade English teacher, Mrs. Weaver, and loves math and science.
Michael is in his sixth year at NSH. He is a graduate of the University of St. Thomas with a Bachelor's degree in Education and English. His wife, Kimberly, and two children, Elijah and Jacob, are the love and joy of his life. Very nearly matched to that is the love he has for working with children in most any capacity -- be it academic, extracurricular, or service learning. He is always looking for something to take apart or put back together, and believes learning should be directed from the heart. For him, there aren’t many things that can beat a good run, a hot cup of coffee, and the sight of a child making discoveries about our wonderful world.
Gemma's compassion, dedication and experience shines through in her work with students. She earned her Bachelor's degree in Theology and later did her alternative degree in Generalist 4-8 at the University of St. Thomas. She is currently working on her Master's degree in Special Education K-12. Her drive and passion for teaching stems from her love for children, especially those with special needs.
Jenny is a Dyslexia Specialist and a Certified Academic Language Therapist, who has worked in both public and private school settings. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Houston and received her dyslexia remediation training from the Neuhaus Education Center in Bellaire, Texas. Jenny works one on one with students who have various reading and spelling difficulties. She has over ten years of experience and has worked with students ranging from kindergarten to high school age.
