Diane Manning, Ph.D.
Co-Founder & Executive Director
Dr. Manning enjoys a dual career as an educator and clinician. She has a Ph.D. in education and masters degrees in health care administration, reading education, and english. As Director of the reading & Learning Disability Clinic of Tufts University, Dr. Manning developed an interest in the way social and emotional issues can interfere with learning and life for bright children. Following a position in the Department of Behavioral Health at Harvard University, she served as Chair of the Department of Education at Tulane University in New Orleans. Dr. Manning is a licensed professional counselor certified by the American Psychoanalytical Association and by the International Psychoanalytic Association in child analysis.

Arthur J. Farley, M.D.
Co-Founder
Dr. Farley co-founded the school in 2005 and served as President of the Board of Directors until his retirement in 2012. During his tenure he served tirelessly as an unpaid Clinical Director. His wise and gentle spirit continues to set the tone of our school today.

Felecia Powell-Williams, Ed.D
Clinical Director
The Board of Directors of The New School in the Heights is pleased to announce that Dr. Felecia Powell-Williams has accepted the position of Clinical Director. She completed her post graduate education at the Center for Psychoanalytic Studies, formerly known as Houston-Galveston Psychoanalytic Institute, and recognized by the American Psychoanalytic Association as an adult, adolescent and child psychoanalyst. She has been a Parent Helper at The New School since its inception and brings to us her previous clinical and administrative experience at the Mental Health and Mental Retardation Authority of Harris County. Among her experience teaching on a collegiate level, she has given much professional training, and consulted with many state and local agencies on recognizing the need of mental health services for children and adults. She is currently a faculty member of the Center for Psychoanalytic Studies. Throughout her distinguished career, she has generously donated her time and talents to numerous organizations serving children throughout Houston.

Jeanette Salinas, MS-CIS
Education Director
Ms. Salinas is a graduate of the University of St. Thomas and earned a Master’s in Computer Information Systems at the University of Houston. She is currently a doctoral student in Curriculum and Instruction at the University of Houston. She has been with The New School in the Heights since its start and was the first teacher hired to be the head of edupartners.cc affiliate program. Her classroom experience and intimate knowledge of the school will ensure that the academic program will continue to challenge our students intellectually while coordinating with our unique “wrap around” clinical services to children and parents ably led by Dr. Felecia Powell-Williams.
