The New School is committed to helping students of all ages who need an emotional supportive environment and a strong academic program. We are also aware of the unique needs of the girls who attend our school. That is why we offer special activities for girls. We help girls reach their potential through thought provoking, project based learning activities that foster positive self-image and female empowerment.

The class offers four different instructional areas;

Storybook Gatherings

This is a time for the girls to come together academically and socially. The girls will read a book together and participate in activities based on the book. At the end of each selection, the girls will gather for a literary tea to discuss their thoughts and opinions of the story.

Girls Just Wanna Have Funds

This class takes a unique approach to teaching girls about money. Together the girls will create a business. Together they will decide what the business will be, what it will cost to start it, what materials are needed, who will be interested in their product and how and where they should advertise. When they have researched and discovered their start-up costs, they will have to apply for a loan. They will then manage their business and their money. They will have to pay back their loan while making their business succeed. They will learn valuable lessons on how to become responsible women who can succeed independently in the world.

Lifetime

This class will help girls learn about the importance of healthy habits in life such as nutrition, exercise, and stress management. They will learn the importance of positive body image and self-esteem. Through educational activities and discussions the girls will discover how to balance the many aspects of their life.

Magazines, Movies, Media, Oh My!

This class will help young girls sort through confusing messages of the media and learn how to avoid getting over powered by the images that are thrown at them in magazines, movies and television. Through a carefully thought out approach, the students will learn to negotiate meaning and identify patterns in the messages they experience.
