Advanced Training In Child & Adolescent Psychodynamic Therapy

The New School in the Heights is offering advanced training in child and adolescent psychodynamic therapy for licensed clinicians. This unique program is offered in cooperation with The Hanna Perkins Center for Child Development in Cleveland, one of the most prestigious training programs in the country. Please visit www.hannaperkins.org and click on “Professional Training.” Training in Houston utilizes the New School in the Heights' classrooms and clinic for a, “hands-on,” experienced- based approach to learning. The four-year didactic portion of the training provides:

• Thorough grounding in modern theory of psychoanalysis and psychodynamic psychotherapy
• Treatment of children of all ages and work with their parents in the context of a consideration of the family as a whole
• Treatment of children by way of helping their parents
• Evaluation of children and families leading to diagnosis and choice of therapeutic intervention
• Application of theory and methods to the broader field of mental health through didactic seminars and field work in child care centers and other community facilities for children
• Principles and methodology of psychodynamic research.

For more information, to speak to a Houston clinician currently enrolled in the program, or to arrange a visit to The New School in the Heights, please phone Felecia Powell-Williams, Ed.D, Clinical Director, at (713) 802-1256.
